This weekend, we continued our “Medley” series with a sub-series about Central’s core values – the values that make Central distinctly Central.
What are core values? You can think of them as being what Central is and what Central is all about. They serve as:
1. A glue that binds us
2. A foundation that we build upon
3. A compass that directs us
4. A magnet to attract
5. An identity to differentiate us from every other church
6. A ruler to measure our progress
Today Cal talked about two of Central’s core values:
As a community of believers, we seek God’s guidance and direction through prayer in all that we do as a church and in all aspects of our daily lives. We want to be completely dependent on God as a church, and we do that primarily through prayer.
We primarily exist for the sake of those who are not yet a part of the Body of Christ, intending to mature all believers into fully transformed, committed, and reproducing followers of Christ.
There are two types of churches; those who focus on membership, and those who focus on mission. Central focuses on the mission of seeking out the lost, regardless of what it does to membership.
Behind every action is a value. Understand the value and you’ll understand the action. Be sure to join us next week as we continue looking at Central’s core values, and be sure to bring a friend, as we will be having an Acts 8 weekend (spontaneous baptisms for anyone who chooses).
