Continuing our “Prayer Circles” series, this weekend Cal addressed a question that many have about prayer: what good does it do?
From the message we can take away at least four things that prayer does:
1. Prayer brings us into the presence of God
2.Prayer allows us to experience the power of God
3. Prayer exposes us to the processes of God
4. Prayer teaches us about the purposes of God
Put simply, prayer changes things! So instead of whining about things to change, why not ask God to change them?
Verses and quotes from the message:
1 Kings 18:1; 1 Kings 18:17-39; Isaiah 1:18; Isaiah 41:21; Genesis 18:22-33; 2 Kings 20:1-11; Psalms 46:10a; Hebrews 4:16; John 15:5; Ephesians 3:20a; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 5:1-3
“Prayer is the power by which that comes to pass which otherwise would not take place.” Andrew Murray
“Prayer similarly provides a mirror for our attitudes, thoughts, and motives, and it therefore changes our perspectives on many things. Prayer time is when God places what is on his heart onto our hearts.” Paul Covert
“Prayer does not change the purpose of God, but prayer does change the action of God.” Chuck Smith
