Monte Hunt – Associate Worship Pastor

There is so much that I love about our church. I love how involved we are in the community. I love that we invest so much in our children and youth. I love that we are actively engaged in ministering as a church worldwide. But what I love most is that we are a church that is completely devoted to Jesus and his teachings.

I know that last part sounds obvious. Isn’t every church devoted to that? I’m not here to answer that question for all churches everywhere. I’m simply saying that in my experience, I know this to be true of Central. When you listen to Cal preach, or a worship leader sing, or read a pastor’s blog, and the list goes on – these are not just empty words they are telling you. No. These people, to their very core, absolutely believe every word they are saying. Myself included. And though not perfectly, they do their very best to live out what they believe. The teachings of Jesus are the heart and soul of what drives Central.

Spoiler Alert: This weekend you and I have the opportunity to see a core teaching of Jesus come to life across all of our campuses.

“Then Jesus came to [the disciples] and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been give to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

Making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching is the goal each and every week at Central. But this weekend is special. This weekend we focus all our efforts on this call that Jesus placed upon his church. And this weekend, by the power and grace of God, we will see many accept the call to become a follower of Jesus and be baptized.

I am sharing this with you in advance for a few reasons. One, don’t miss out! Come and experience first-hand that our God is alive and that his power is still at work in radically transforming people into who they were created to be.

Second, please spend some time praying over this weekend. God hears your prayers and they matter dearly to him. As a believer, God has given you the privilege of asking him to do stuff. So ask him! Ask him to show up this weekend at Central and do what only he can do: turn people’s hearts to him.

Finally, invite. All of us, no matter who you are, have friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors who need to experience the love and grace of Jesus in their life just like you and I have. This is a perfect opportunity to play a part in God’s story of seeing some of the people in your life come to know Jesus like you know him. He is full of grace, full of truth, and full of everlasting life.

We hope to see you there!
