Well Central, you’ve really done it this time! Actually, you’ve done it again. I’m speechless. What kind of church does this kind of thing?
1 Corinthians 10:31b says,
“…whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
If you took this passage seriously how much effort would you put into what you do in God’s name? If the glory of God was at stake, would you be an overachiever or an underachiever in what you attempted for him? Seems rather simple doesn’t it? If you were sold out to God you would go all out for God. Only the best would be worthy of God!
I want to sing your praise, Central… No, I HAVE to sing your praise! There are three reasons why this is true…
First. Regarding the Leadership Summit. We asked you to sign up. We asked you to invite people to join you. Ready for this? Because of you, Central has become the second largest Summit site IN THE WORLD! – second only to Willow Creek where it’s held live. And by the way, it is held in HUNDREDS of sites in the US as well as dozens and dozens of sites around the world. And here’s the kicker… we sold out and stopped registering people IN JUNE!!! This was a full two months before the event! We filled up our Mesa campus to capacity and so we had to shut down the registrations. What kind of church does this kind of thing?
Second. We asked you to care for children who were heading back to school and couldn’t afford the necessary backpacks and school supplies. We asked you to find room in your hearts to care for teenagers in the foster program. We set a ridiculously ambitious goal of having our church buy 3000 backpacks, and fill them with supplies—a huge vision to be sure. Could we do this? Would we? As I write this, here’s the latest…
- Central, as of the time I am writing this, you have provided 3,347 BACKPACKS! As if that wasn’t phenomenal enough, you FILLED THEM UP WITH SUPPLIES!!! Now, ready for this… there’s more!
- Not only this… you gave each teacher in the schools that partner with our Adopt a Family Christmas Program a teacher pack full of supplies, a $15 Starbucks card, and a handwritten thank you note!
How cool is this??? What kind of church does this kind of thing?
Lastly, we recently held Extreme Week for our Children’s Ministry. This event, formerly known as VBS, has grown to EPIC proportions in recent years… but this year was the biggest we have ever experienced! Thousands of kids and hundreds of volunteers made this by all accounts the most memorable and most impacting week ever. Without so many people giving so much of themselves, this simply couldn’t happen. What kind of church does this kind of thing?
What kind of church does this kind of thing? One that simply does all it does for the GLORY OF GOD. Only for God! Congratulations Central and thank you for being THAT KIND OF CHURCH!
For this I am extremely proud of you! Way to go Central!
