This weekend we continued our summer LEGO series, “1×8” with a message by Paul Carpenter. In today’s message, we looked at the sixth “I Am” statement by Jesus.
Reading from John 11, Paul talked about the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, but before Jesus performed this incredible miracle He made the statement, “I am the resurrection and the life.” He then proceeded to amaze the crowd of by doing the unthinkable and raising a dead man back to life. Jesus fully demonstrated his statement, and demonstrated it even further when He rose from the dead Himself.
Jesus has the last word
We all understand what it’s like to have the last word in an argument, but what about with our own lives? So often, as we progress through life, we take whatever we are given at face value and refuse to let Jesus step in. We let someone else or even ourselves get the last word without thinking that Jesus still has something He can say about our situation; just like Mary and Martha, we may be quick to call a situation hopeless before giving Jesus the chance to have the last word.
Paul suggested two ways to let Jesus have the last word in our lives: patiently wait on his timing and trust in His goodness and power. Are you letting Jesus have the last word?
