Happy Easter! This weekend we celebrated Jesus’ resurrection with 20 services between Central’s five campuses. I hope you got the chance to attend one of them!
In the message, Cal explained the Bible in four acts:
In Act I, the relationship begins in the Garden of Eden – A place where Adam and Eve had open access to God. Everything was perfect until they deliberately rejected what God told them to avoid, separating themselves from Him and as a result, brought death into the world.
Fast forward to Act II, where the price of restoration is contemplated in a garden. Jesus, the night before he was crucified, agonized in the Garden of Gethsemane. He knew what it would cost to renew our open relationship with God; it meant His suffering and death to pay the price for our sin. The important thing to remember is that He willingly went to the cross to be crucified. He could have fled or escaped the cross at any moment, but He chose to endure punishment that would bring us back to God.
In Act III, we see the payment of redemption culminate in a garden – the garden tomb. Near the place where Jesus was crucified was a tomb where they laid his body. On the third day He rose back to life, conquering death, all in that garden.
Finally, Act IV will conclude in a garden! In Revelation 22 we see the final picture in the story of salvation where we are reunited with God in Heaven… In a garden!
Why is a garden so significant? Because it’s a place of life and a place of growth. That’s what Jesus offers to anyone who follows Him; abundant life!
Don’t forget to join us next week as we continue The Story with the New Testament!

“Surely we cannot take an open question like the supernatural and shut it with a bang, turning the key of the mad-house on all the mystics of history. You cannot take the region called “the unknown” and calmly say that though you know nothing about it, you know that all gates are locked.” G.K Chesterton
