Alex Enabnit – Programming Coordinator

This weekend marked the beginning of our new ministry year! Before we start gearing up for all the ministries and events starting up, let’s look at some of the highlights from this last year:

Leadership Summit

This huge event hosted by Willow Creek just a few days ago was in 362 cities in the United States and over a hundred abroad. The cool part? Second to only Willow Creek, Central had the highest attendance of any campus!

Foster Care

Last Christmas we asked for 15,000 shoes to give to every kid in the AZ Foster Care Program. We got so many shoes that not only were we able to put shoes on all 15,000 foster care kids, we also gave shoes to 13,000 impoverished children in Cairo!

We recently asked for 3,000 backpacks for older foster care kids still in the system who don’t have adequate school supplies – you gave over 3,500!

Extreme Week

We held Extreme Week at all of our campuses and saw an attendance of 2,300 kids. It was a huge success!

Central Staff

Polling the entire Central staff, we achieved the Best Christian Workplace Endorsement for the second year in a row!

This barely even scratches the surface of what was accomplished this last year – way to go, Central!!

Looking Ahead

There are some awesome things happening this ministry year. Be sure to check out these ministries:

  • Children’s program “Trek” is starting up
  • For Junior High: “Chill”
  • Senior High: “Crash”
  • Stepping Stones for the women
  • Ironman for the men
  • Nine Twenty Three for 18-29 yr. olds

And don’t forget these special events:

Regenerate for the women of Central happening September 12-13 at the Mesa campus featuring Bob Goff, Anita Renfrow, and Francesca Battistelli.

Men’s Challenge for the men of Central – come to Lost Canyon in Williams, AZ and get ready for a challenge like none before!

Worship Night is happening RIGHT NOW!!! We are cutting a live album during, so be on the lookout for CD’s in the bookstore.

Finally, this next year we will be going through The Story. This will be a fantastic series that will phenomenally increase Bible literacy. Most importantly will be a perfect time to invite friends and invite the community to come to Central. If you haven’t gotten your copy of The Story yet, be sure to check out our bookstore on the weekends so you can get our Central-personalized discounted copies – both for you and your friends!

We don’t just have a mission; a mission has us! What will be your mission this next ministry year?

Verses and quotes from the message:

2 Timothy 3:1-4; Luke 9:23; Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 20:28; Matthew 28:18-20;

“There is nothing like the local church when it’s working right. Its beauty is indescribable. Its power is breathtaking. Its potential is unlimited. It comforts the grieving and heals the broken in the context of community. It builds bridges to seekers and offers truth to the confused. It provides resources for those in need and opens its arms to the forgotten, the downtrodden, the disillusioned. It breaks the chains of addictions, frees the oppressed, and offers belonging to the marginalized of this world. Whatever the capacity for human suffering, the church has a greater capacity for healing and wholeness.”Bill Hybels

“When the church is at its best, mission is not something we do; it is something we are.”  James Emery White
