Monte Hunt – Worship Leader
Yesterday my little nephew Lane was in an accident involving a lawn mower. When the chaos had settled he had lost the majority of his left thumb and index finger. Upon hearing the news I prayed…HARD! What I said was between me and the Maker, but I will tell you it was the most intense prayer session I’ve had in awhile. I’m sure my prayer is one among many that have been lifted up for Lane, but I have to share with you a response God gave me today.
I’ve been on a reading plan to read the Bible through in a year. I’m about 8 months in and have kept up pretty well, but currently I’m about two weeks behind (don’t judge). I picked up my Bible today to catch up and the first chapter I was scheduled to read was 1 Kings 13. A few verses down this is what I read:
“Then the king said to the man of God, ‘Intercede with the LORD your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored.’ So the man of God interceded with the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored and became as it was before.” 1 Kings 13:6
According to the doctors this soon after the accident it is still unclear how Lane’s hand will turn out, but I have faith that one day God will make it new again. He made that pretty clear to me during our time together today.
God is not silent. He still answers prayer, and He still speaks to us: sometimes through action, sometimes in mysterious ways, and sometimes through His Word.
