Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Not only does Thanksgiving grant a Thursday off of work for a four-day weekend, but it gives the three F’s: family, food, and football! But even more than that, it’s a time where we can focus on all of the blessings for which we should be thankful. And that reminds me of Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”
Now please don’t read what this verse isn’t trying to say! Paul isn’t telling us that we should be thankful for all circumstances; for that fender-bender from the parking lot or a recent cancer diagnosis or the death of a loved one. He’s saying we should be thankful in all circumstances. That despite whatever hard situation we might be going through, God has still blessed us with something to be thankful for.
What are you thankful for today?
Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good, and his love is eternal. Psalm 118:1
