Happy Easter! This weekend we celebrated two significant events: the close of our two-year series through the book of Luke and, most importantly, the resurrection of Jesus. I hope you got the opportunity to come to one of our 17 services this year because they were fantastic!
In the sermon, Cal talked about the disciples’ disappointment with Jesus’ crucifixion that Friday. There they were, expecting a conquering messiah, only to be crushed when He willingly goes to the cross to be executed. They are left with nothing to do but mope that Saturday, the day after, wondering what happened. But then Sunday came and brought everyone emptiness – the empty cross, the empty tomb, and the empty grave clothes. You see, the world offers promises full of emptiness… Easter offers emptiness full of promise!
The story of Easter is full of these promises: Jesus’ promise to rise, reside, and then one day return. Have you made the decision to follow the risen Jesus?
