Encouragement

Monte Hunt – Associate Worship Pastor

“Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13

The act of encouragement can easily be over looked, and yet it’s impact can stretch far beyond our own vision. God fully understands our needs, which is why this verse uses the word “daily.” And if as individuals we require daily encouragement from others, it stands to reason that each of us should give out encouragement to others daily as well.

This verse goes on to tell us why we need this encouragement. A kind word here, and a thoughtful gesture there keeps the enemies attacks at bay. Because when we here the encouraging voices of those around us, it blocks out the enemies voice which spats out perpetual lies like, “You’ll never be good enough. Give up. No one wants you,” and the list goes on. God has given us the remedy for combating these discouraging lies that so easily make their way into our hearts and minds – it is you and I.

So let’s all do something together – right now. At the conclusion of this short read, let’s take a moment to pause in our day and encourage someone in our lives. I will do it with you. Today we will accomplish this together, in this moment. Think of a person in your life who needs encouragement. Ask God to point you in the right direction on who it is and what they need to here from you. I cannot overstate how incredibly impactful your words to them could be. To you it may seem light and casual; but to the one you reach out to it may totally reshape their perspective on their day, their year, or upon life itself. You can be the voice that God uses to shape and mold their heart. God has called us to encourage one another. Daily. Three…two…one…go be an encouragement to someone.
