One of the misconceptions about following Christ is that following Him means that you will never have conflict, problems, challenges, or acne when you decide to live for Christ. We automatically think about because we follow Christ life will be easy. As a father of three children (two in their teens), I live in the tension of explaining to my daughters that life is still life. There will be bad days, bad moments, conflict, troubles, and sorrow. Jesus is not a lucky rabbit’s foot. There will be days when want to scream, shout, cry, or give up.
…but in those moments are when the getting gets good. You see in those bad moments, conflict, trouble and sorry. We do have something that is good. That something is Jesus.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
In these moments we can take heart and trust that God is who He says He is. He is near to us. He gives us strength when we fill weak. Gives us comfort when we feel, well, uneasy.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30
…that was easy.
