Adrian Darsee – Worship Pastor

If you are like me there are things that you like to keep under control. Well…at least thats what we think we are doing. We have all been faced with challenges big or small that seem unnecessary. In fact, some things can ruin your day. When your car dies, your credit card number is stolen, your email is hacked, flat tires, AC goes out…etc. All of these things just happen with little to no warning. The question is how do we deal with these things without absolutely losing our mind. If I’m honest, I have had a bit of a temper over the years. Especially when the unexpected things happen. It is just plain annoying. However, as I grow older and my relationship with God becomes closer I have a few tools in my tool belt now that help me get through those unexpected bumps in the road.

  1. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that problems big or small won’t come. They will. Count on it. The question is how you prepare yourself for them. I love Dave Ramsey’s philosophy about keeping a financial emergency fund. In the same way I have a psychological emergency fund. What does that mean? What do I do to get that? I try to stay closely connect to Jesus every step of the way. Every morning that God allows me to wake up in this world I read his word. I think we underestimate the power of reading God’s word in the morning. Its breakfast for the soul. Trust me. It works.
  2. Psalm 46:10 says “Be still and know I am God.” Amidst all of the trials you WILL face know that God is with you. He will guide and direct you at every turn if you let him. Being a follower of Christ does not mean that problems won’t come your way because they will. Being a follower of Christ means that you have access to strength to deal with problems. We are not alone.
