Happy Mother’s Day! This weekend, Cal preached from Proverbs 31, a very fitting text for the holiday.

Proverbs 31, written by King Lemuels, starts by giving praise to his mom and then for his wife. From this text we can see at least five virtues of mothers:

  1. She has great worth
  2. She does great works
  3. She has great wisdom
  4. She has a great witness
  5. She excels in her worship

The list certainly doesn’t end there! The point is, we owe our mothers a lot of gratitude for all they have done – have you showed your appreciation yet? Unexpressed gratitude is simply ingratitude.

Verses and quotes from the message:

Proverbs 17:6; Proverbs 31:10-31; Proverbs 22:6; Proverbs 6:20; 2 Timothy 1:5; Exodus 20:12

“The easiest part of being a mother is giving birth…. the hardest part is showing up for it each day…” Erma Bombeck

Big Idea: Unexpressed gratitude is simply ingratitude
