Standing The Test of Time

Jeremy Jernigan – Pastor of Worship Arts

This weekend we wrapped up our Why Behind the What series in Luke and focused on Luke 6:43-49. In this passage we saw spiritual gauges to determine how we are living. Specifically, Jesus used the imagery of producing fruit. If we are living with the Spirit of God then there should be fruit of the Spirit evident in our life. While two trees may look similar, you can tell the difference by looking at the fruit they produce. The same is true of us spiritually. Is is easy to talk about being a Christian, but God’s Spirit should be evident in all that we do.

Other verses and quotes included:

James 3:10–13; Galatians 5:19-23; 1 John 2:6; James 1:22–25; Romans 2:13

“The toughest thing about success is that you’ve got to keep on being a success.” Irving Berlin

“If we are full of greed or envy, then the fruits of our life will be the produce of greed and envy. If we are full of lust and perversion, then our lives will reek with lust and perversion. If we are full of bitterness and hatred, then our lives will display that bitterness and hatred.” Brad Froese

As you look at your life, what is the thing that God is telling you to deal with right now? What will it take for you to succeed spiritually and live a life that shows evidence of God’s Spirit?
