God’s Crazy Love
Alex Enabnit – Research Editor
Wanna hear something crazy? God’s love. No, really; It’s crazy. Let me explain…
This week we started a new series called “Crazy Love” based on the book by Francis Chan. We won’t be walking through the book in the sermons, but it serves as an inspiration for what we’ll be covering. And the best part is, we’ll have Francis Chan out to preach one of the messages himself!
Today we talked about God’s crazy love. It really is crazy if you stop to think about it! God loves you and me with an unselfish, kind, compassionate love. It’s the kind of love that’s so crazy that God sacrificed His only Son, Jesus, so that we could be with Him in heaven. How crazy is that? It’s illogical; counterintuitive. But it is the illogical nature of God’s love that makes it so compelling.
Reading 1 John 4:7-12, Cal gave us four important takeaways regarding God’s love:
- Love originates in God
- God is love
- God demonstrated His love by sacrificing His Son
- Loving others is the outcome of experiencing God’s love personally
To conclude the message, Cal challenged us to do something about God’s crazy love for us: love others! Love others in illogical, counterintuitive ways. Need inspiration for that? This link contains 100 ways that you can love others. What if you picked just 7 to do between now and next week?
