Leadership and Golden Calves

Scott Jones – Gilbert Campus Pastor

Ever feel the pressure to compromise as a leader? There will come a day in every leader’s life where they feel pressure from the people they lead to do do what they want instead of what they need. In a way it doesn’t really matter what the specifics are. It’s the bigger principle that is at stake. And when that day comes we have a choice as to whether we will do what is right and best for the organization’s future or will we compromise for short term gain.

Don’t be Tone-Deaf

tone deafAaron Pennington – Queen Creek Campus Pastor

One area of my life I wish I would have paid more attention to when I was young is music. To be more specific, I don’t know how to play any instruments, I don’t know the cords, I really don’t know much about music at all.  Although I don’t know much about music, one thing I am not is….tone-deaf. Now, when I say that I am not tone deaf, I am not referring to it in the way the you think. Stay with me and I will explain:

Do You Still Have Your “Man Card?”

MANCARD

Scott Jones – Gilbert Campus Pastor

Spent time talking with a good friend recently. We talked about spiritual life, marriage and family. The more we talked the more we both realized how vital it was that we have someone to talk to about these matters that are so critical to our lives. I’m not talking just about having a friend or even about having conversations. Building Trust Online

Jeremy Jernigan – Executive Pastor of Creative Arts

We had a staff retreat this week up at Prescott to connect together, recharge our batteries, and equip ourselves moving forward. There were four different breakout sessions and I had the chance to teach one of them about how to use social media tools. I entitled it “Building Trust Online” as that is really the point behind what we are trying to accomplish. I was incredibly encouraged by the conversations that followed and I hope that you are able to see many more of them online in strategic ways.

Below is a copy of the handout that I gave in my class and this covers the highlights of what I discussed (click on the image to zoom).

What if: You Were a “Reason”?

Dean Kuest – Glendale Campus Pastor

This past weekend, as we closed out our “What If?” series, I got to experience my first Acts 8 service at Central. If you missed it…I’m sorry…really…it’s one of those weekends you never want to miss. Across our four campuses, we had 209 baptisms! That’s 209 people taking a first step in fully commiting their lives to Jesus. That is 209 life stories and within every one of those stories, there is a reason…a reason they were at Central this weekend to hear the challenge presented.

Pastor Appreciation Month

Aaron Pennington – Queen Creek Campus Pastor

Did you know that this month is pastor appreciation month… because I didn’t until this past Sunday. On Sunday a handful of folks approached Emily and I with a card and gift to show their appreciation.  Emily and I were so honored and humbled that we talked about it for the rest of the day. We never expect things like this, and I can’t speak for all pastors, but most of us do not do what we do for recognition or even to be appreciated.  But I think everyone likes to feel appreciated from time to time. So if I may, let me give you a few suggestions of what you can do this month.
